Season 2010/11 Report
Hi Everyone,
Here’s Kev’s report:
“Well, it’s hard to imagine that we’re lining up for yet another season of Formula 500 racing. This will be our fifth season in this class and the Team is looking forward to a much better year than the last. A lot of work has gone on behind the scenes with the car....and the driver.
As you probably remember, the Team took over the Dutchman Performance car from the previous season. We started the season with the Racetec and, after finishing the first round in fourth place, the chance to purchase the PMP arose. Things really looked good as I became familiar with the car. After a very good practice session at Warrnambool all was ready for the first event in the new car.
We all went to Hamilton looking forward to comparing the two vehicles. However a jammed throttle had me end the night upside down. However all were very keen to get to the next event as the car looked and felt fast. This was to be the Oval Express Series, which is the biggest F500 event in Australia. Over the years many Americans have come over here to compete in this series. As you would know by earlier reports, things didn’t go well and I ended u in hospital and the car ended up with a lot of repair work to be done. With the help of A & S Fabrication the chassis was fixed and the car is almost ready to go.
The Team is looking forward to continuing on from where we left off: getting back into the top ten of the Stampede Series and also completing the Oval Express Series with a good result. There’s a lot of new young drivers again this season and the age difference between them and me is growing. So it will be another challenge for this old bloke to see if I can keep up with them.
The Outreach 500 Team would like to thank our sponsors for the coming season:
* It’s great to see Morris Oil with us again for the 2010/11 season. Morris has been with us from the start and we have a very good relationship with them. Their product has been a great help to us and we recommend it to anyone who cares about their machinery.
* Red Dust Role Models are another sponsor to return and be a part of our program for this season. Not only are they a sponsor but we are also a part of their program. A truly great organisation that works with our Indigenous people in very remote areas of Australia.
* Traffic Engineering Services Victoria has also been with us from the beginning. Our thanks must go to Steve and Sharon for their continued support and encouragement. If you ever need a traffic count done then they are the ones to approach.
* Homes with Integrity are another to continue their support this year. This is their third season as well. To Stewart and Heidi we say ‘Thanks’. Again if you are thinking of building a house or just renovating, then call them for a chat.
* FGBMFI (Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International) are another to stay onboard with us. We value the return support and the fact that these people believe in what we are doing.
The race schedule is there for you to see under the calendar section of the webpage. We all look forward to seeing you come and watch us race and have a chat after the events. Please make yourself known to us.
GB, Kev”
Let’s all continue to keep Kev in our prayers. He would really appreciate your prayers for his ongoing work as Chaplain, as this work can be very challenging at times. Also please pray for his safety ~ he needs all the prayers he can get in this regard!
God bless and keep you,
Marg
