OUTREACH 500 Update
8th October 2006
Hi Everyone,
Well, Kev finally got his car dirty. Sunday, 1st October was a Practice Day
at Avalon Speedway and Kev and his pit crew arrived in the early afternoon
after church. The weather was hot and very windy and conditions at the
track were dirty, dusty and uncomfortable (can't you tell it was my first
time trackside?) but we were all very enthusiastic to see the car put
through its paces. Being the only Formula 500 there on the day was an
advantage because Kev was able to have the track to himself and he had the
opportunity to really get to know his car.
We are all excited about the potential of Outreach 500 becoming competitive
and Kev hopes he will be able to move up through the field and hold his own
with the other drivers. Disappointingly for him, but not surprisingly,
there were a few teething problems on Sunday and this impacted on the
potential of really trialing the car and he says he didn't feel "at one"
with it yet. However, Steve from Racetec, the designer, wasn't fazed at all
and he believes Kev has a good chance of success.
Before the 500 took to the track some of the team prayed and we committed
the whole project into God's hands. We pray that He will use this for His
glory.
Overall, the day was full of potential and we look forward to our next
Practice Day on 21st October at Bacchus Marsh Speedway. My question is ~
"Am I ready for another dose of dirt?" Yeah! Why not! Kev tells me night
racing isn't as dusty. ~ Time will tell! Can I really trust the judgement
of the "World's Oldest Rookie"?
We hope to see you on the 21st!
May God bless you all,
Marg
