"Let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us" - Hebrews 8:1

At the Track ...

DARLINGTON 13th February, 2010

Kev returned to racing last Saturday after quite a number of weeks of recuperation following his unfortunate accident at Hamilton on Boxing Day. Saturday was a perfect day and Kev and his team (Ian, Steve and Shane) were enthusiastic to see what the night would bring! The track was good and the crowd, although small, was enthusiastic.

Heat 2:

Kev started out of position 6. He was in the top half of the field because he was in 9th place in the points. The PMP was side-lined for the night, following the extensive damage it sustained at Hamilton. While it’s being repaired, Kev’s brought the Racetec back into action. (Did I mention it’s for sale?) Kev had become accustomed to the PMP so he found the Racetec a bit of a handful. At the start of the race the lead car broke a chain and half of the field ran into him, including Kev, who sustained damage to the front push bar and wing.

Heat 4:

Kev started out of positon 5 and ran there the whole race. Thanks to Shane and the team, the car had improved from the previous heat.

Heat 5:

Kev started out of 4th position but on the second lap he was rammed by another car which took out the front end and finished Kev’s chances of completing the heat. Needless to say, the team was disgusted by this and so it was back to the pits for some hasty repairs. Matty Turner was a great help so “Thanks Matty”.

Final:

Because Kev had dropped a race he was off the rear in the Final. Shane and Ian, with the help of Johnny Pearson, had made some changes to the car which resulted in it ‘flying’. Although it took a buffeting, the little Racetec went the distance. Kev finished 9th, which made all the team happy.

Outreach 500 is holding down 9th position in the points score and this is very pleasing to everyone involved. Kev will continue to race the Racetec until finances are raised to complete the repairs on the new car.

Next week ~ Simpson.

The Outreach 500 team would love to see you there! Don’t forget to say “Hi” if you can make it.

God bless,

Marg
