At the Track ...Update - 18th December, 2006
Hi everyone, Our next race is on the 27th December at Horsham. Saturday 9th December was hot, and so was Kev. The team arrived at Simpson in the heat of the day and waited their turn to race. First race was heat 2. Kev started out of position 5 and he was rapt to come in 1st. After adjustments to the car by Steve and Ian it was back to the track for race two. This was to be in Heat 4. We were starting from position 6. After a minor bump and a re-start, the car was roaring along but lost power when Kev was out front, dropping him back. He finished 3rd. In the 3rd race, which was heat 6, Kev was off the rear. The track was a real challenge with ruts and bumps all over it. Kev was again out front when the car lost power (again) but it came good with a lap or so to go. Kev got back to 2nd. So when Kev qualified for the final and was in pole position, we were all excited. However he was a quite apprehensive about the damage his car could sustain. Conditions had deteriated very badly. Being a real trooper, he decided he'd take his chances..Ian and Steve had done a great job on the car, even cleaning it to a standard that Billy would almost approve of (Billy was unable to attend this day's excitement)..Time to get "down and dirty" again! Who prayed?? The track's generator ran out of petrol just at the right time and the lights went out, leaving the track in darkness. No chance of a race now! Fantastic! Who lead the points score? Kev! Next race we start at the end of the
field...but in Section A!!!!

Steve on tires, Ian on seatbelts, Kev fixing safety gear. Tension builds. Photo 3 ... Ian waits with safety gear as Kev prepares himself. Photo 4 ... Steve and Ian push the car to the "Dummy Grid" area for start of first race." Photo 6 ... Ian and Kev go through last minute preparations. Photo 7 ... Too late now. It's all go from here! Photo 8 ... Post race talk with our good friend Mr Rodder. Driver feedback is being considered and pondered.
