More about ....
Kevin Freeman
Driver
G'day, my name is Kevin Freeman and I'm the driver of the OUTREACH 500 car. I was born in Geelong, Victoria in
1948 and lived there until I married in 1974. Soon after, we moved to Bannockburn where I now live. I completed a
Sheetmetal Apprenticeship and worked at International Harvester company for 11 years during which time I had a
break of 2 years for National Service from 1969-1971. My next career move was into teaching where I worked at
various schools. It was while in Vietnam that my interest in motorsport really grew.
I have been involved with motorsport since 1971. During that time I competed in Touring Cars and then moved onto
Sports Sedans. In 1987 I swapped over to Speedway Racing, partly due to the rising costs of staying competitive
at the higher level in bitumen racing. In 2000 my interest in competing took a nose-dive following the death of my
ex-wife, Sandra, but last year I realised that I had unfinished business in racing and so Formula 500 looked the
way to go. So after a five year break from the sport I am ready to return to competition.
I became a Christian in the mid 1980's. Because of my Christian outlook on life, I pray that our Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ will be blessed through this Ministry. I hope to catch up with you somewhere soon.
May God bless you all,
Kev
Steve Gundry
Engine Man/Pit Crew
I currently work two jobs,
one at Geelong Telephone Company as a Technician and the other job is my
own business putting Traffic counters on the roads all over Victoria with
my number one employee Kev Freeman.
I am a keen motorcyclist and have spent most of my life racing ,buying
,selling, working on ,motorcycles. My family has been heavily involved in
the motor cycle industry with my dad (Jim Gundry) having a business in the
motorcycle intercom industry (www.soundrider.com.au) and my Brother (Stuart
Gundry) has a motorcycle clothing business (www.platypusx.com) I had a
motorcycle shop in Ballarat for 9 years but relinquished it some years ago
and moved to Geelong.
I have been a Christian for eight Years and Jesus is Number one in my life
with my wife Sharon and 4 year old daughter Hannah coming a very close
second.
My motto is "If it aint Got a Motor I'm not interested!"
Ian Barrett
Pit Crew
Lives :- Ballarat
Age :-40
Married with one daughter, drive a country school bus and work in a
local concrete plant driving trucks and doing office work.
I am heavily involved in the Model Railway hobby building and operating
scale models from a variety of countries from around the world and also
travel around to shows with a layout that was built for my daughter.
I have been involved in motorsport since I was 18 and started out racing
sprint go-karts with moderate success in the classes I raced in. Then moved
into circuit racing in a Ford Capri Sports sedan for a few seasons until
the usual buy the house and settle down with family came along and the
racing has taken a rest for the last 10 years. I am keen to get back into
racing in the future in some form and by being involved as pit crew is a
start. Hope to give Kev and the rest of the team as much support as I can.
Bill Andrensek
Pit Crew
My name is Bill Andrensek and I live next door to Kev in Bannockburn. I am
married with two kids, a boy and a girl. My job is a "Waste Disposal
Technician (Garbo') for Four Seasons Waste. I work in the Golden Plains area
doing the rubbish pickip runs . My interests are my family, my motor bike,
making home brew, watching V8 Super cars and going to the speedway with Kev.
I like to get old junk that people throw out and turn it into something of
use again. Tinkering with bits and pieces should be helpful while being part
of the pit crew. This pit crew thing is something new to me and I look
forward to being a part of the team as we all grow and learn together
Marg Huxtable
Media coordinator
Hi, I'm Marg. I type up items for Kev's
Website.
I'm old, like Kev, and I know very little about Motor racing ~ does it show?
I'm a Christian and I believe in what Kev's doing. I pray that he fulfills
his dreams and reaches people in the racing world with the gospel. I
believe this is our most important reason for living and I pray that God
will be glorified by Outreach 500.
I live in Bannockburn, too, and I love life in the country. I love the
whole lifestyle of bush, horses, garden etc. I have three grown-up children
and I work with people with Intellectual Disabilities. Another passion of
mine, one which took me completely by surprise, is teaching Christian
Education in Schools. I would encourage any Christian with the time to
become involved in this ministry.
I look forward to meeting some/all of you at the speedway one day.
I pray that God will bless you all as you support this ministry,
Marg
